Garden centers and plant nurseries sell annuals, perennials, shrubs, trees, vegetables and houseplants, along with soil, mulch, fertilizer, pots and tools. Independent nurseries often grow part of their own stock and carry varieties that do well in the local climate, while big-box garden departments compete on price for common plants. Wholesale nurseries and growers sell to landscapers and sometimes to the public at volume prices; tree nurseries sell balled-and-burlapped and container trees and can deliver and plant large specimens. Specialty growers focus on bonsai, cactus and succulents, orchids or native plants, and hydroponics stores sell lights, nutrients and systems for growing indoors.

Im and avid gardener. I've used Ed Hume seeds for many years, but the last several years germination has been a problem. This year jalapeΓ±os pepper seeds not good. Snapdragons all so. I bought a couple packs of tall marigolds seeds. I used 2 flats one package each flat. Less than 50% germinated in one plat and second flat germinated but they are tomatos. I was in disbelief. I never buy tomatoes seeds in packages so I know that Im not mistaken. Im having a couple plant fruit to see what variety they are. 3 years ago and before that Ive always Planted Early Sunglow Hybrid corn. Great variety for our zone 9c. Germination that year was 40%, so I decided to save a couple ears for seed next year. I had 90% germination. Following year same thing. Last year's seed did sprout so I bought new seed. The seeds are half the size compared to other years. I always plant corn after June 15th here. Its alway ready to eat in September. Ill always keep using Ed Hume seeds even if germination is low. Its a tough go out there trying to keep consistent. 50% is great as I've found out trying other brands is considerably less. Thank You Ed.

I had 100% germination rate and good luck last year with Ed Hume seeds. I will be growing Ed Hume every year from now on. These are San Marzano. :-)

Most the seeds I buy of EdHume are great. But the last 3-4 years when I buy Lobella seeds it is a 50/50 if the packets have seeds in them.

Nice to meet Ed Hume and his grandson' Alex. Thought there would be more info about seeds, propagation, rhizomes, germination... Got 'garden tour' (small winding path through small native species, touch garden, Japanese style garden, handfull of raised beds, etc...) and walk through corner of warehouse to see a sees packet filler in action. Wish I had asked where those seeds are from...

I'm very impressed with the quality of seeds from here. I bought nasturtium seeds and every single seed came up. It was almost unbelievable. I also bought sweet 100 tomatoes which definitely live up to the sweet name and are as enjoyable as candy. Also my pumpkin plants are vibrant and healthy. I've bought seeds from other places and never had the success rate as I've had with Ed Hume seeds. Thank you Ed Hume seeds!
